Why
does the price of instant coffee fluctuate?
The price of green coffee beans, the raw material behind
the production of instant coffee, is subject to constant
and strong fluctuations in the international markets.
These variations are mostly the result of the world
production of coffee and its consumption.
However, the crops are also affected by climatic, economic
and political factors in the producing countries, as
well as by the capacity of the coffee growers to invest.
Another relevant factor is the involvement of the investment
funds in the International Coffee Exchanges.
What
is the nutritional value of instant coffee?
On average, instant coffee provides about 100 calories
of energy per 100gr of net weight. Decaffeinated coffee
provides about 110 calories of energy per 100gr. A teaspoon
of coffee contains approximately 2g. Thus, instant coffee
provides only 2 calories per cup and decaffeinated coffee
slightly more than 2 calories.
